Global survey of security decision-makers finds AI adoption surging, yet organizations remain reluctant to trust it

The report highlights a significant disconnect between AI adoption and AI trust across the security industry.

  • 94% of organizations use LLMs
  • 94% say AI capabilities influence cybersecurity purchasing decisions
  • 51% consider AI functionality a requirement when evaluating vendors
  • Only 14% have made AI central to their security operations strategy
  • 53% trust AI to perform narrowly defined security actions
  • 63% reported experiencing a significant cybersecurity incident in the past year
  • 48% of affected organizations suffered disruptions lasting two weeks or longer
  • 96% of leaders remain confident in their teams' capabilities
  • 35% cited AI as their top cybersecurity risk, surpassing ransomware for the second consecutive year
  • 85% believe AI will improve threat detection
  • 72% believe AI is more capable than humans at identifying threats
  • Top barriers to AI adoption: data privacy concerns (51%), lack of human intuition (49%), accountability and accuracy concerns
  • 21% identified inadvertent data exposure as their most significant incident
  • In North America, 74% of ransomware victims made a payment
  • Security teams spend roughly 13–15 hours per week across each major security function
